I've read a lot of good and bad reviews and I really do don't understand why it got so many negative reviews, as long as the installer has a basic knowledge of disassembling and assembling the item they shouldn't have any problems. The manufacturer provides everything you need to install this case. Once you've taken everything apart, including the small panel on the back of the unit that's held together with six small screws, it's easy to add or use existing cables for your components. I didn't use the included mounting bracket, but it was enough to hold the component and case in place. I used the direct method of attaching the case with 1/4-20 screws with PVC standoffs to mount it to a bracket I made a few years ago for under dash CD player support. Many have said they couldn't install a back brace to support the back of the radio, I find that ridiculous, with a few measurements and a DIY nut it was easy to mount the back of the unit using the bracket provided by the stereo manufacturer. , pan head screw, washer and rubber gasket. I was also impressed that the stereo screen was easy to see through the blue tinted cover. Nothing negative about this device. You can install the unit either door up or door down. I pulled the door, it didn't break, I'm sure it will work fine hitting the waves with the door closed. I installed a lower hinged door because I couldn't see the unit with the upper hinged door open. This hull is well made and directly supported by the through hull attachment. Overall I'm very happy I chose this particular case and the price of Revain made it easy for me, I'd pay fifty dollars for this case. Ordered and received in three days.
