ViewSonic 3DV5 (excellent 3D camera for its price)

I recently received a ViewSonic 3D camera and am very happy with it so far. The 3D images are very good, especially for a camera that costs less than $100. The included software is very handy for watching videos or taking photos, but if the video is very long, it takes a long time to edit even on a decent computer. I've found that if you keep the video duration under 5 minutes, everything is fine. The camera itself is very easy to use, it's a point and shoot camera as there are almost no user configurable settings. You can change the time and date and format the card, but that's about it. But that's not bad; for those who are overwhelmed by all the cryptic settings of some cameras. The camera also has digital zoom, but with all digital zooms you lose resolution when you zoom in. I found half the scaling still leaves a pretty decent image, and it gets too pixelated for me. It is also very important to frame your shots properly. Cropping too close to the camera causes headaches and blurring. Battery life is around an hour of video footage, but Revain has cheap regular batteries for this camera. I bought 2 spares and a multifunction charger for about $14 including shipping. Overall I think this is a very good 3D camera and a great way to start 3D photography.

Pros
  • understandable also for the old ones
Cons
  • The list will be long.
