This unit works right out of the box. A simple setup guide is included. Now I'm taking the VHS tapes I made for commercial use and changing them to DVD. After making a master DVD, I can make 6 copies in less than 10 minutes. This machine is a real time saver. I've made over 50 copies in the past few days and not a single one has failed. I use DVD-R discs.
