Charge indicator does not light up immediately after battery is inserted, giving the impression that the battery is not inserted deeply enough to make electrical contact. Forcibly lowering the battery only makes removal more difficult. In my experience, the battery just needs to be "placed" carefully into the charger to make electrical contact. The charging indicator lights up with a delay. This makes it easier to remove the battery. The mechanical operation of this charger has been greatly improved over the original version.
