Review on πŸ’» StarTech.com USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 PCIe Card - SuperSpeed 20Gbps Expansion Card - Windows & Linux Compatible by Adam Hutchinson

Great bandwidth if you have a device to use (see details). Recommended

As a writer working on many different computers, I faced a pretty serious dilemma when it came to choosing a platform for my workstation. You see, my work mix has benefited greatly from using machines with AMD AM4 and TR4 processors. The other side of this is that my workflow moves my content from machine to machine. When I used a combination of 1Gbps, 5Gbps, and 10Gbps Ethernet, it was (generally) faster to run multiple 2TB NVMe SSDs in USB 3.1 gen2 - to use housings. Obviously Thunderbolt would be nice, but it's just not available on the platforms I use. The good news is that the Samsung 970 Pro NVMe drives I use are much faster than the interface I'm forced to use them with. That's why I love StarTech.com's 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 PCIe (PEXUSB321C) card. The card was recognized in less than a minute and was up and running on Windows 10 (Build 20H2). He had no problems with 2x2, even on older devices. Its unmatched stability was a nice contrast to the x570 USB implementation. With the new USB 3.2 Gen2x2 enclosures and cards from StarTech.com, my maximum throughput has doubled. Of course it's still half of TB3/4, but eventually I'll be able to upgrade the cases and bus cards to USB 4.0. I now save over two hours a week with a $50 USB stick (per computer) and a $90 suitcase (per drive). It's worth it, especially since USB 4.0 isn't coming anytime soon. recommended

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
