A little better than a regular hair tie. Durability: Much better. Hair ties break too easily. Retention: slightly better. I think it probably grabs thicker hair better than fine hair. But over time I still slip. Elongation: expands over time but returns to normal overnight. I overstretch it in use (adding an extra loop) to account for the stretch. Hair Pulling: Slightly better, they are covered in a smooth finish so less hair is pulled. Colors are great - lots of options and they all work well. So is it amazing? no I'm still looking for something with better/longer durability. But it was a good price for the quantity and the pack should last a year so I'm happy.
