Simple smoke tester

Really good quality of this smoke tester. It only has one button to turn on and uses regular baby oil (not included) to operate. The power cable connects to the battery and comes with a hook for hanging on the hood latch. It also includes a cone adapter that fits most intakes, but larger intakes may require an inflatable balloon (not included in this kit). This machine is a great price compared to other models and if you only need it to check your intake for small leaks, great. Simply connect a hose to the inlet adapter, fill with mineral oil and turn on. It takes a few minutes for the smoke to actually start to go away, but it works well and I was able to quickly spot a small leak. I tried other methods like soap but they didn't work well enough because the leak was very small and in a hard to see place. So that was worth it before I started replacing the expensive sensors on my car. Besides checking the intake system, this device can also be used to check for leaks in the exhaust system by blowing smoke through the exhaust pipe and seeing if the smoke comes out. somewhere in the exhaust system. You can also check your engine for leaks by placing smoke where the oil is entering or through the dipstick hole and you can see if there is smoke coming out of your engine at all. The machine can also test EVAP systems. I haven't tried that, but I did try an exhaust test and I had no leaks, which is good. Overall this little smoke machine is basic but works great for finding small but very nasty leaks in the intake system. I haven't had any problems and this is a great tool to diagnose cars for small leaks that could be regular old cars. I can't say how reliable it will be over the years, but so far it seems like a solid little device that should work well in my home business when I need it.
