Review on Standard Motor Products PC211 Crankshaft by James Cowan

The car ran fine afterwards

It only took a few miles after installation before the car shook and gave a crankshaft position sensor trouble code. I cleaned it and drove on and it happened two more times before I could take it back to my garage. I reinstalled an original BMW sensor that I only wanted to replace because it was 15 years old. After that the car ran perfectly. All I can say is that I was lucky to be able to replace it without removing the intake manifold, which is often necessary. In that case, don't go cheap. Get a genuine BMW OEM sensor as it is difficult to replace.
