Review on Secure Your Bikes with MaxxHaul 50376 Threaded Hitch Locking Pin for Bike Rack 70210 by Fernando Hudson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Solid build but missing parts and not the best choice for us Wrangler owners

That thing is heavy! But that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, as it's also very durable. Assembly was fairly easy with most of the work being screwing the bike rack parts onto the frame. To make this MUCH easier, you'll need several different types of sockets to tighten. It fits the bikes very well and keeps them in place, and the top is fixed with a pen holder and you can remove the pin to fold it up when you don't have bikes attached. Ok, that's why I only gave 3 stars. First of all, it hurts to attach this thing to your car's trailer hitch. It goes in really well, but trying to line up the holes to push the huge screw through is tricky, and what's even harder is the fact that the screw goes about halfway in and then you have to screw it all the way in. I had to use pliers to unscrew it to remove the rack. OH! And a cool feature is the ability to remove another pin on the underside and fold the strut down from the back of your car so you can open the tailgate and access your car's interior. But that's only about a quarter. And I have a Jeep Wrangler whose tailgate swings out to the side instead of opening like many SUVs. It would have been nice to know this before buying. Because of this, I can't open the tailgate without removing the entire heavy brace that is bolted on, which requires pliers to remove. In fact, this thing is difficult to remove once it's put on. If you have a traditional liftgate that opens then this probably won't be a big problem for you. Oh and another issue I had was that a set of screws was missing so I was only able to fit 3 of the 4 bike holders. to the frame. It's not that big of a deal as I can just walk over to my warehouse at home and buy something, but when you buy a product you want the entire product. Overall I think this thing will last a very long time as it's very well made and if I can find someone with a metal cutter I can probably set this thing up to fold over a quarter of the way down around my gate to get. open! Oh, and one last thing, if you own a Wrangler and are still planning on buying one, you're better off not buying tires larger than the stock Sahara tires. Once you've taken those huge tires, the post won't fully engage the hitch as the tire will prevent it from sliding backwards. Mine barely made it.
