This is an excellent quality stone. It is wide and long, making it easier to sharpen long knives. When I received the stone it was perfectly flat. I recommend these $80+ branded knifemaker stones. A note on granularity. 1000/3000 is a good combination for kitchen knives. You can get a thinner edge, say 6k-8k, but that thin edge will dull faster. 3000 is enough for a sure sharp blade that stays sharp much longer.
