Works very well. I have a steady hand, but figuring out the angle wasn't easy if I wasn't familiar with it. The clever design of the elastic fits the stone perfectly and you use the wedge to start the movement at the right angle. Unlike other guidance systems, this isn't affected by the "height" of the blade or any other fancy calculations to think about. Simply attach the desired number and start sharpening. The only drawback is the design. If you use them you will lose about an inch of the stone's length.
