May 29, 2019. I have a 2005 Subaru Outback. with manual transmission. I removed the faulty switch (the easiest was from below) and then traced the wire to the connector. Disconnect and replace with a new one. Pretty easy to do with regular hand tools. You will need to use an open end wrench (I think it was 22mm) to remove and replace the gearbox. No liquids leaked but transmission was still low so some liquid may have leaked. I ordered a different switch because there are two identical switches, one for the reverse light and one for the neutral wire (I don't know what that is for, I don't know). In any case, I'll replace it with another one as a precaution. This part fits perfectly. All is well.
