Review on Experience Unmatched Comfort With KEEN Men'S Targhee II Hiking Shoe In Gargoyle/Midnight Navy - Size 11 D(M) US by Reggie Hobbs

Hotspots & not secure.

I have other Keen shoes - a pair of Newports that I wear almost year round when I am running errands, doing light work around the house, even jogging and some exercising. I bought a pair of Targhee II after carefully reading the reviews, measuring my feet, etc.Let's start with the good - these are true to size. They have a nice foot bed/last as well as toe box. The width is as expected. They fit like Keen customers would expect. The bad - no matter what socks I tried these on with or whether early or late in the day, standing or sitting, once I snugged up laces, I immediately felt hotspots on the tops of my feet (the cuniforms and upper metatarsals). I tried with one pair of sheer socks, then with padded socks, dress socks with a liner pair underneath, heavy tube socks with a liner pair (as well as without a liner pair) and no matter what combination of socks, the hotspots always were there, and not to a small degree. The way the tongue fabric tightens down under the laces has something to do with causing hotspots across the top of my feet from the opening of the shoe to about the base of my toes. The other thing to note is that the laces only pass through four of five sets of eyelets. Regardless of how much or how little I tugged on the laces (irrespective of the hotspots on the tops of my feet), I did not get the sense of these shoes being secure on my feet.I tried walking on tile and on carpet, across flat floors as well as up and down stairs. Not secure and not comfortable. I would not even try with a backpack or any other load.Unless you are going to have to go barefoot across broken glass, as far as these shoes, you should pass.Keen, you make some awesome shoes, but for my feet, you missed the boat on these.

Pros
  • Unmatched comfort is guaranteed with every pair of KEEN Men's Targhee II shoes
Cons
  • The shoes may not be suitable for people with corns or calluses
