I bought these shoes for outdoor riding and wanted a rubber sole with good grip. You are perfect for this requirement! They look like regular cross training shoes with a notch for SPD. There is no connection with the SPD and the ground, which is ideal for me! This allows you to quickly stop and disengage without worrying about slipping and hitting the pavement. They are great and the polar opposite of my high performance cycling shoes with hard plastic bottoms and exposed cleats. I use them for spin classes. I would definitely use these for cycling as my original shoes had roughly the same outsole. I have wide feet and usually wear "D" wide shoes. Once broken in, they will definitely stretch due to the mesh design. This is not a problem as there is enough support to put pressure on the shoe on climbs. I've just started using them (April 2020) but I know I would buy them again.
