Great set to complete Black Widow

I have all Black Widow sets except fair skin and am looking forward to the release of the Monarch set. I only use them to color books. Black widows are classified as soft wax sticks. The core is harder than Prismacolor but softer than other soft wax pencils in the same price range. Not too hard and not too soft, just right. With a sharp tip, they color small areas of the pattern quite hard. I prefer their Prismacolors, which are too soft for me and can look too "fine" due to the high wax content. Widows are creamy and blend beautifully, but rarely break or have a waxy finish. Black widows also have high pigmentation. They also have unique colors that other brands don't have. As a beginner, I love that there are no duplicates in each Black Widow set. The Monarch set of 48 does not include the colors found in pencil sets of 12 or pencil sets of 24 such as Cobra. Other brands don't. The sets build on each other, so a set of 48 contains the previous set of 24. My widows work with all types of paper found in coloring books, from the jagged but flimsy paper found in self-published Revain books to the thicker paper found in Joanna Basford's books. Books on smoother paper found at Kirby Rosan. I am older; Black widows don't hurt my fingers like cheap brands. I don't have to press hard or swipe multiple times across an area to get a bright streak of color. I've found these pens to work great with shading pens (I've tried Prismacolor and Caran d'ache) as well as shading liquids (I've tried Gamsol white spirit). Since both Prismacolors and Black Widows are soft wax sticks, they work well together and can be layered and blended together. If you have a small set of Prismscolors, Monarchs are a great addition to your pens with all their pastel colors. I can also put my widows over the alcohol markers (Ohuhu). This works particularly well with the new pastel markers from Ohuhu. The Monarch set adds more than just color; it complements and completes the other 5 sentences. It contains a range of shades (pastel) that give me the light tones I need for highlights. It also complements the grays needed for shading, including a good range of cool and warm grays, and much-needed pale to dark blues. Love the bronze pen and the awesome new orange (Aztec Gold). This set goes well with the original Black Widow set. I hope that all of the original 24 pen sets are upgraded to have the larger tip and extreme gradient now found in the Skin and Monarch sets. color sets. For example, it helped me distinguish red-pink from orange when the hues were so faded that they were difficult to distinguish. I found the Black Widow brand to be the perfect choice for beginners and the Monarch set to be the perfect choice for those with other Black Widow sets. It's not the best choice for self-assembly. The original Black Widow set is the best stand alone set. Beginners looking to purchase their first pencils should purchase the Monarch and Black Widow sets.
