I've seen a lot of alarmist reviews here so I wanted to give my opinion. Firstly, we love this aquarium. It's perfect for our fighters. It is easy to clean and maintain and works as it should. Plus, it looks great, and the sound of the pump and the splashing of the water aren't intrusive at all. However, some concerns expressed in other reviews are not unfounded. First, you should set the pump to its lowest setting, and even that can be a little strong at times. We introduced a new fish and it took a few days to get used to the current it was creating. Our solution, which worked great, was to only turn the filter on when we were home so we could make sure it didn't get caught in the grill. After about a week he got used to it and seemed strong enough. problem solved there. It's a bit annoying that there isn't a switch, but we have one in an outlet that connects to a switch, so it works fine in our case. Only other complaint: make sure the covers are installed exactly as they should be. My daughter fed them one night and in the morning one fish was gone! The poor guy turned out to be swept along by the current and I found him in the water chamber at the base. It wasn't worse from attrition, but if it was fish in higher tanks, there could have been a fight between the fish. So overall, is this a perfectly designed tank? no But with a little mindfulness and very little attention, it's definitely worth the money.
