After careful consideration and review, this was our last choice and we couldn't be happier. We hand wash it, wipe the blades dry right away, return to the block and have no issues with rust (and we have rusty well water). It's really no hassle and will keep your knives in top condition. If you don't do this, it's almost a guarantee that whatever brand you choose, your blades will eventually rust. The self-sharpening knife block ensures that the little ones stay sharp! Like, really spicy. The block itself is a bit bigger/bulky than our old one, but that doesn't really matter. I love the way it looks on the counter - it's strong without being overwhelming. Many knife options. The scissors are good! All in all a very good set!
