Compare Hiccapop to Izo Bumpers

I have purchased this Hiccapop Bumper and the Izo Chid Bed Safety Rail Bumper (also from Revain). My 3 year old grandson just moved to a queen bed in the middle of the room. He is actively sleeping in a "helicopter" and immediately managed to fall out of bed. I put a hiccapop bumper on one side and an izo on the other side of the bed. Izo is significantly larger than Hicapop. The Izo measures 6" x 9" x 56" long while the Hiccapop measures 4.5" x 7" wide x 52" long. My grandson tripped over both bumpers while he was sleeping. Once his legs went through Ikapop and another time his shoulder rested on Iso. It also didn't go through Ikapop, although it could have gone through him. I probably should have tested both bumpers for more than two nights, but I'm hoping Hiccapop will be enough of a signal for him to stop moving in that direction. I put both bumpers under the waterproof mattress cover and on top of the pillowcase. Neither bumper moved, although my grandson used them as leverage to pull himself up to the bed and dangle from it. My husband and I pushed the hiccapop bumper (we didn't try to sit on the side of the Izo) to go to bed and read bedtime stories. The smaller Hiccapop looks better with smaller bumps under the covers and is easier for us to get in and out of bed with our grandson. I have a 13-1/2 inch mattress with a padded topper and a waterproof topper so the base is about 14 inches. With Hiccapop I can use 18" deep reeds (but I really need 20" reeds). For Izo, I need blades that are at least 22 inches deep. Consequently, I decided to return the Izo and order another Hiccapop. It fell off the bottom of the bed so I can order a third hicapop. Get a hiccapop if you want a flatter look and don't want to buy deeper sheets. Buy the Izo if you have a really active sleeper who can climb a 4.5 inch barrier, or if the bed will be pushed up against a wall and you don't want it banging against the wall. or when extra length of the Izo is needed to prevent the child from falling into a "gap" in furniture such as a bedside table or rocking chair. Iso is indeed an effective barrier.
