My 2006 Ford F-150 only has a 4 pin trailer plug and socket for it. In my work we work on ships of different styles. We mix them all the time too. From time to time we have a boat with a 5 pin trailer connector. The 5th pin is connected to the blue wire and requires a 12v signal to disable the trailer brakes. This adapter gives me a second 4 pin trailer plug and 1 5 pin trailer plug. The adapter fits into the socket on my truck with no problems. All trailer plugs that I have plugged in there fit without problems.
