I record vinyl on a very high quality audio system (best Linn LP12 specs, benchmark ADC and DAC, First Watt amp/preamp, VinylStudio software)) and play them on this player and from other sources. My experience with the DAP is limited to an iPod and a pono (I bought a total of 4 ponos for myself and family members). Pono sounds really (really) good, but the UI isn't great, the battery life isn't great either. i love it anyway The user interface of this Sony player (and the player in general) is really nice and works very well. I used the Music Center program a bit but found it very easy to use. I just dragged albums to this player without a music center. Formatting the micro SD card (I used a 128GB card) was very easy and everything worked very well. The sound is great - I found it a bit harsh at first but it seems to flatten out as I use it more and I think it's pretty close to the Pono although I haven't made any critical comparisons. I was very interested in Sony players because I had good experience with Sony products and I am delighted with this player, very glad I took the risk.
