Review on πŸ“ Enhanced Digital Magnetic Protractor by IGaging 35 2269 by James Hodzic

Which cube? It's a good choice.

I must have spent about an hour looking through all the Chinese cube levels/protractors and comparing their prices and features. I'm happy to spend a little more and get quality tools that last longer. Over time, this strategy has definitely worked for me. This iGuage cube seems to hit the mark. Has magnets on 3 sides. The body is made of some type of cast aluminum alloy. While they could have asked a native US speaker to read the instructions, like many Chinese companies, they failed in this regard. It's pretty easy to use, so there's not much of a problem here. This device charges via USB, so there are no batteries to replace or destroy in your sensor, which is a good thing. This could be bad if/when the time comes when it no longer holds a charge. It could be in 5+ years. The instructions have a link to a colored charge indicator - red is low, green is charging. It must have been for a prototype - this product has no red or green lights. On the upper right side of the display is a small battery icon that flashes while charging and stays on when the battery is fully charged. There is no battery indicator when the product is in use. The product reads up to 0.05 degrees, so you cannot get a reading between 0.10 and 0.15 or 0.15 and 0.20. It is either rounded up or down in increments of 0.05. From what I've checked, this appears to be correct. After being set to zero, it changes from 0.00 to 90.00 and back to 0.00 without any deviation when switching between flat and adjacent surfaces at 90 degrees. There is a small readability problem. If you attempt to read the display at an angle greater than 40 degrees either side of center, the display will dim. I'm not sure if this will be a problem for most people. but be warned. If I hadn't bought this one, I would have bought the Klein Tools 935DAG model in HD. I assume the quality control is better on the Klein tool and if something goes wrong returns and exchanges are easier. I also like to support my local economy if/when possible.
