My cat is 7lbs and the medium fits him correctly. He is a senior long haired cat who was 12lbs in his prime but struggles to gain or retain weight. He has episodes of illness that cause him to lose weight and stop cleaning himself, so I had to shave off a lot of his fur because of matting. We live in a cold climate and I personally don't like a warm house, so it's usually around 64. Too cold for the cat. He has a heat pad and a heated little hut to sleep in but I felt terrible about shaving half his fur off when he's all skin and bones. I got him this shirt and I thought he would hate it but he tolerates it well. He hates getting it put on but then once it's on he doesn't try to get it off or anything. I take it off daily to brush his fur that's growing back and I also leave it off when he's up and about so he has time to clean himself.It got dirty quickly. And this is going to sound ridiculous but it really attracts cat hair. The outside of it, I mean. I understand a cat is wearing the shirt but the material itself attracts more cat hair than other materials and it really sticks to it. Anyway, buy one to make sure you have the right size and everything, but expect to buy more if your pet is going to be wearing them constantly, they'll need washing regularly.
