I bought this as an alternative to carpeting to preserve the natural beauty of the stairs. Clean treads sounded like a great idea. First of all, I followed all the installation instructions exactly. Two or three stages began to warp in less than 24 hours. Looked pretty insecure and looked pretty awful. I tried rolling them up again with a roller, but by this time the adhesion was gone. They were pretty easy to install. They are 30" wide so it was difficult to line up and stick a 30" decal and line it up well. I made a guide out of colored paper. Next the looks. They looked bad on my dark steps. Looks like a slight accumulation of dirt on the steps and mottled because it appears different depending on the wood finish pattern. It took forever to remove one with a blow dryer and it still damaged the finish. I ended up ripping them all off quickly and ruined the finish as I was laying carpet and you never see it. .In terms of actual safety I think the steps were pretty decent. It was certainly better than mere steps. But the product looks crappy, doesn't stick well to the steps and can't be removed without destroying the finish. . In summary, they look terrible, don't stick consistently and mess up your steps on Remo. Wave. DO NOT BUY. Just bite the bullet and your steps will be carpeted.
