Bought this to play Video8 and Hi8 tapes over s-video to HDMI connection on HD TV set.Disaster, unwatchable picture. The same tape played on the same TV using basic a-video single cable connection looks much better, really good actually.PROCheap, and you get what you pay for.CONSThe picture is dark like viewed via a dark brown filter, most of the color spectrum is gone.The few bottom raster lines are just annoying noise, no picture.The a-video and R/L sound connectors are female and all three should be male connector just like the s-video connector. You can use the matching cable but why . the s-video connector is right so all other connectors should follow the same logic.
