TERRIBLE smoke! The unit emits very foul smelling fumes which will permeate all surrounding materials and may take many HOURS to dissipate. These fumes are also POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, at least they make me very dull and dull and I am prone to serious errors under their direct influence and I stay and get sick for a few hours after use. These fumes saturate the air (and even some of the fabric) for more than an hour after using a heat gun, and this dirty air can affect me when I return to places where they still linger. Be sure to only use the heat gun without heating anything. I should have sent it back immediately but decided to keep using it thinking that these fumes might be from manufacturing chemicals or residue and would diminish after some use. BUT after many uses the gas builds up WORSE. The smell/outgassing is now quite persistent from the device, so I have to leave it outside since yesterday. Until yesterday I had to store it in a plastic container that would be full of odor/outgassing if opened! The effect of these fumes on me is strong and seriously affects my functions and decisions. Today I realized that these effects must have been so bad that I became "gun shy" about using the device and found I switched to other heating mediums or other work instead of using this heat gun. So I just ordered another, safer model of heat gun that I used years ago and am writing this advice to others. Note that I wanted to try this new heat gun because it has a more secure case, which is nice since I can put it on the floor instead of in a mount. This new gun also heats up faster and has better heated airflow.
