Revainrating 3 out of 5

The stand seems good though.

I ordered this microphone stand yesterday and it arrived today. I had things to take care of when I first got home from work so I had to wait a few hours to open it. I was pleasantly surprised at how heavy the base was. When I first considered buying a specific mic stand, I wasn't sure if it would support the weight of my Shure SM7B mic that I use for my recordings. So I started collecting the parts, opened up the included mic clip, and two small, obviously broken off parts fell out of the box and into my hand. Pieces, as well as the place where they broke off the microphone, in the photo, and a very slightly damaged box. I didn't even realize how minor the damage was to the box until I opened it. (It was housed in yellow Revain packaging, so I didn't think to check the box before opening it when I took it out.) It was a shame the clip broke, but I decided to go ahead and close it see if Shure could handle it. As far as I can tell it seems like it can easily support the weight of the mic, which was my biggest concern. However, I will say that the mechanism for raising and lowering the stand is small. After lifting the top now sticks poorly when placed at the lowest point and I personally have trouble getting it back up. Assuming most people don't need to raise and lower it too much, it might not be essential, and once installed it feels stable. I will need to use the stand a little longer to make sure it actually suits my needs before I give the product my final review. Since it arrived with a broken part, I'm rating it 3 stars for now. If it proves as stable as I think I will increase my rating.
