USER ERROR? good for me

I have used augers before, but for some reason I'm missing something when it comes to using this one. I get a teenie baby hole in the ground and then when the "blade"? hits the dirt, it stops. I bought a brand new 20V drill for this project and have now lost $$ due to not getting plants in the ground in time. I will take any feedback offered. Otherwise, I'm returning. :( it's made well, so I'd prefer not to do that.

Pros

Works well in our SC clay. The longer bit is helpful in not having to bend over quite so much.

Cons

It may be noisy and disruptive to use in residential areas
