I watched a few videos before I removed 11 vinyl shutters from my house to repaint them and saw that most homeowners end up breaking most (if not all) of the existing pins , when they remove their shutters. My house is 15 years old and the old pegs were brittle. They just snapped (or shattered the shutters!) trying to get them out of the holes they were "cut" into. Then drill out the old pin. so the new one can move in. It's important to drill a 1/4 inch hole deep enough for the new pin and really clean it out with the drill bit. Otherwise, you'll find that the new pen goes most of the way. but not quite. Then you can break when you pull them out (although they grip well!) Buy an extra one and you won't regret it..much nicer than seeing screw heads that can rust later.
