My finicky cat loved this brush right away, making it easier to get to her undercoat. She is shedding more due to allergies so I am thankful I can help by scratching her with this brush. Because the wires are tipped with soft rubber (or plastic?) nubs, it does not poke or hurt her. She rubs her face on it and purrs. The push button pushes the plate forward and I easily clean off the fur. I decided to rake it across her cat tree, then a glove that was covered in cat fur. It got ALL of it off. Then I cleaned my couch with it. Very, very pleased with this purchase. The handle feels sturdy and long lasting. I hope the same for the wire brush/comb part.
