They are great for our application. We have 2 rotating corner kitchen cabinets and trying to locate the item in their dark interior was an annoying inconvenience. There is no practical way to power the lamp unit from an outlet, so running the motion sensor on battery power should be a practical solution. They are doing great work in that regard. Since they only turn on briefly when we open the closet to find an item, battery life was excellent. A magnetic metal plate is glued to the lamp body, and the second iron plate and adhesive disc are used to stick on the surface where the light source is to be placed. Place the magnet on the assembled plate and "click" it into place. The lamp can be easily removed for charging. Unfortunately, the adhesive pads are not enough. One of the magnets broke off and both iron plates also came loose, although the mounting surface was wiped with isopropyl alcohol to remove residual oil. The magnetic plate was assembled at the factory. The iron plates are now held in place with adhesive tape. If the magnetic plates come loose again, epoxy will help. The supplied adhesive discs were branded by 3M but imported from China, it would not be surprising if they were in fact illegally labeled with adhesive pads.
