Review on Efficient Cooling and Illumination: Harbor Breeze Lynstead 52-in Bronze LED Indoor Flush Mount Ceiling Fan with Light Kit (5-Blade) by Ann Champa

Beautiful and functional shouldn't cost hundreds

Very happy with this fan. I had it about 3 months. The electrician said the installation was easy. He noted that it was as heavy as it looked, so it was solid and strong even though it wasn't made of wood. You need to make sure you have the right support in the blanket as it is heavy. We were able to reinforce the ceiling and route it away from the attic. I use the fan at maximum speed and it's just right for my 15x15 bedroom. No knocking or annoying noises. Perfectly balanced without weights. Can't reconcile the price with the quality and intricate style. Oh too! There was no remote in the kit but I don't need it - I installed smart bulbs and control the light via Alexa. The fan runs almost all the time. I love the details on this fan - the fleur de lis pattern matches my bedroom fireplace surround and summer cover perfectly, even the prongs are in the same style. Photos include fireplace. It's early 20th century - the house was built in 1920 and the other bedroom has a similar fireplace on the other side of a common wall so they share a fireplace. One interesting coloration is now referred to as "japanned" (apparently called antique copper at the time, according to the Sears and Roebuck catalogue). The entire cast-iron rim and what we think is a brass summer cap are plated with copper and then coated with black pigment (I'm told it's diluted bitumen). I enjoy learning about the history of my new home, restoring what I can and adding a few modern conveniences of my own (there is no AC or heat on the 2nd floor).

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Approximately
