This is one of two grow boxes I have and this is definitely the best. A built-in filter/air intake is required. Another great feature is that the suction cup mount and the box itself are easy to attach and detach, which is very convenient when you need to adjust the position or take the box out for cleaning. I would say that about 75% of the juveniles swim/fall to the bottom of the box out of reach of the mother and about 25% stick out until the mother lovingly eats them, but that's not just a design flaw, it's just nature. I've never used a separator before. The box only seems big enough to comfortably fit a large guppy. I've also never used a cage, it seems oddly cruel and restrictive, not to mention unnecessary, but maybe that's just me. Either way a good product to protect (most) baby fish from their mothers, keeping itself clean and giving plenty of room for the mother to cool off a little until she is ready to go.
