Have used a Schwinn / Saris 2 bike rack for the last few years. Has served me well except the car had a spoiler and it was a hassle to fit 2 bikes. Especially my 29er ht and my sons 20 inch MTB together. Plus with my cobalt with the trunk so the bikes sat very high and killed gas mileage on long rides. I bought a hitch and installed it on my car while trying to choose a hitch post. something not insanely expensive but not the usual racks that would put the bikes back up on the car. The biggest problem with placing bikes behind the car made me install platform-style racks, or so I thought. I saw one of these on the back of a small SUV and got curious. Then I saw the price on it. Good on budget but not cheap crap. Low on the ground will cause problems, the rest had great reviews. On my Kobalt, however, the body structure has a higher rear frame than you would expect and I have yet to find a slant that would create an issue where I can't easily get in and out at an angle to compensate. Quick gun assembly/disassembly (simple pin) since my garage space is limited so I can pull out 2 pins, have 3 straight poles to lean on in the corner or have a stumbling block I can just toss it in the trunk (bikes are stored inside no matter where we are). That being said I once spent a few minutes setting up both bikes and figuring out the best way to mount them, it's 100x easier than a pannier rack. Not as easy as a platform but fairly close and it can now be loaded and unloaded quickly and easily. They did a good job protecting the bikes with foam, but since my 29er is a large size, I had to put a piece of pipe under the foam on one side to protect the chainstay. It probably won't be a problem, but I plan ahead so my frame doesn't get scratched because it "looks fine". The bike mount is very secure and includes some long velcro straps which I use less than half the time so I have spares in case I lose something. Another plus is that they give a lot. The only downside, but don't think the stand includes either a stabilization strap or a locking pin. However, I do have noise/traffic issues, with the exception of train tracks, but again I prefer to be safe and plan ahead. Overall a great simple and high quality stand at a great price. And rest assured that I did my research, the company stands behind their products without question, these racks have been around for a long time, they are tested and correct. They say they will pierce ANY bike, but any bike with regular sized rims will. I measured a fat bike I plan to buy this winter. Should be a great adapter for anything over 60mm wide rims: c. But I'm willing to bet the company is working on it as fat bikes are becoming more popular in areas with snow that make up half the country lol. and if they have any plans to upgrade or offer a fat bike adapter. As a courtesy he sent me the straps for free so I could have spares and I took my number to sort through the fat bike case. Now that's amazing customer service!
