There are two cables coming out of the control box. One of them is long enough to plug into an outlet. Another cable from the remote control, which is attached to the underside of the ceiling, is short. Every time I moved, the control panel fell off the chair onto the floor. I prefer a cable with the remote in the middle (the cable is attached to each end of the remote). This means that far fewer cables have to be handled. I wasn't too keen on the material either. The back of the Sherpas was ok. I'm coming back because I found one with a control/cord that I like and the fabric is more velour-like, softer and more flexible.
