This is just an extension cord although it has electronics to step down for USB charging. It is not a surge protector. The clamp isn't deep enough to fit on my desk which has a slight bevel underneath and won't fit on my side table where the edge only sticks out about an inch. In the photos online take note they attached it to a perfectly square board, nothing underneath. Makes it limited where you can use this. The power cord is covered in cloth not standard rubber which does not protect the wires very well especially any turns or bends that might occur or something hitting the cord. Reminds me of wiring you find in very old homes. It is a lot bigger than the photos give the impression. For 36 bucks it is expensive.
