My gecko's lights were on a very old, very loud wheel style holiday timer. It's time for an update. We use our Abode security system as a Z-Wave hub. The convent charged $40 for the bulky power switch. This was smaller and cheaper. I was concerned that the minijack might not work with our old Gen1 gateway. But just docked and everything works fine. Now I don't have to listen to the old holiday timer, and if the power goes out, the lighting schedule isn't disrupted. While the default options are what I'm looking for, it's worth noting that the little Z-Wave plugin has a few additional settings that some might find useful.1. You can customize how the plug behaves when power is restored after a power outage. By default, it simply reverts to the state it was in before it was powered off. However, you can set it to always be on or off if that is preferable for your situation. The manual on/off button on the side glows blue when the plug is switched on and off. You can change this behavior to have the blue light always on or always off. Good product!
