Bright light, works underwater, use tape

I followed the instructions and it was easy to install. The wire that came with it was the same gauge as the old wires (good or bad). I have a closed frame so I glued the new wires to the old ones and pulled them through front to back. One taillight was dimmer than the other, but that was due to poor grounding where the light plate bolts to the trailer; not the fault of the kit. I grounded to the light mounting screw on the mounting plate, not the trailer itself. I tightened it to improve the ground and the light came out bright. If your light is dim, check the ground! Includes wire nuts and connectors. I used the connectors for the side marker lights and taped them well to make them waterproof. On the back I connected the wires instead of using wire nuts, then I taped those connections around with tape (not included but you don't connect your own trailer if you don't already have tape). The wire nuts are just awkward to glue and I didn't want to leave them open to the elements. I have used this kit several times when launching a boat. I left the light on and off during the dive and had no problems. The lights stay on underwater and I even had a 4 pin connector submerged with no short circuit. (The 4-pin connector isn't really meant to be fully submerged in water, so don't make it a habit.) Others have noted the drainage holes on the bottom of the lights and the fact that the wires aren't sealed at the point. where they enter the back of the lantern, but the LEDs must be sealed inside the fixture because even with water in the fixture the lights will continue to burn. I am satisfied with the kit.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Almost never
