Review on Klein Tools VDV999-033 Phillips Replacement by Kevin Singh

Had high hopes for this die set (reasonable price and generally good reviews). They appear to be well made and clearly marked. The Klein VDV200-010 grip (which these dies are designed for) is identical to my Ideal CrimpMaster frame. I ordered these dies based on many reviews stating that they work with all tools based on this design. They fit perfectly and are lined up in my Ideal CrimpMaster frame. Unfortunately they deformed a couple of quality connectors that I tried to crimp. After the first error, I checked the correct connection of the plug and cable. I have made. The terminals are designed to twist the wire and the insulation is partially bent under the connector. Careful examination of the dies revealed no obvious defects on the crimping surfaces. I may have gotten a bad set, but I won't risk damaging any more connectors on a second try. I will return them for a high quality custom built instrument.
