Review on πŸ” High Sensitivity Portable Digital Milligram Pocket Scale - 200 x 0.001g for Jewelry, Reloading, Weighing Powders with Calibration Weights (Black) by Casey Estrada

Revainrating 4 out of 5

great for 0.01g but not accurate for 0.001

display reads to milligrams but don't trust the last digit. After about 100 method tests with a set of calibration weights up to 10 mg, I found that the last digit is practically irrelevant. So keep in mind that this is a hundred gram scale with an accuracy of 0.01 grams. This is still impressive value for the price. I'd give it five stars if the ad didn't indicate it was a true mg scale (which would be kind of a miracle at this price point). For very small weights (less than 20mg) the last number is just random, but oddly enough when using a 1g test weight there is often 1,000 +/- 0.001g. I'm wondering if the firmware has a special mode for this sees the reading within say 0.007 standard weight (or zero). That is, a correction factor can be added to or subtracted from the raw measurement, chosen to "snap" the display closer to the standard weight than noise/bias drift would naturally allow.

Pros
  • good for many
Cons
  • minor problems
