This stand is worth it. The instructions are very poor, for reference only.
Spacer easily opened my 23# top and held it open tightly. Only one is needed, more than enough power. Sorry I didn't need the soft close so no comment!. Attach the round axle in a position that looks about right, then play around with the corners of the cover for the other axle. That's all I can offer you. You need an assistant to do this.
