I used two adapters in my Startech cloner model USB 3.0 and I got mixed results. I've cloned other drives, updating basically everything without a hard reboot and never had a crash. I cloned a Windows 10 drive so I could upgrade to a much larger SSD than the one that came with the laptop and it ran for about 16 hours. Then complete crap, and the disc didn't die, but received serious damage. I ended up putting the old hard drive back in since I hadn't formatted it yet, everything was great. I then cloned the data drive to upgrade it to a larger size and it worked without any issues. The computer wasn't a Lenovo with added hardware protection or anything weird and I haven't tried it since. In general, the use of adapters worked out well, the drive is easy to insert and secure with a screw.
