This small, inexpensive but sturdy vice came in handy when I needed to extend the legs of a filing cabinet. My first robot vacuum could vacuum under a closet with no problem, but its replacement was a bit taller and wider, and I really didn't feel like pulling out the closet or squirming around to get the job done. So I used a vise to hold the short pieces of an inch dowel in place while I drilled a hole in the center of each for a dowel screw to connect the extensions to the existing legs. It was easy to mount the vise on my sewing table where I did the drilling and easily move it to a remote location when the job was done. Compared to the original, the closet reminds me a bit of a man on stilts at a parade or at the circus, but the cleaning robot can now crawl under it, and that's the most important thing. A great little vise in my opinion.
