These blades are great for cutting roots. I was putting up a fence in my yard and hit the roots trying to dig post holes near some trees. There's nothing worse than trying to dig a hole full of roots. After a little research I bought these knives. They arrived quickly and that same day I pulled one out of the box, attached it to my saber saw and headed to the 4 root filled holes. I have to say I was very impressed. The blade was hard, not pliable, and in a matter of minutes I had severed all the roots in my first post hole. It cuts through dirt, roots, and even old cords with little effort. Same effort as cutting through 4x4 for larger roots. I would definitely recommend it to anyone gardening and dealing with stubborn roots. Some of the roots I met were up to 3, maybe 4 inches tall.
