Review on Seachem 256 Gold Buffer 10 6 by Christina Sampson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's a great buffer

I don't understand the other weird reviews on this product it does exactly what it's supposed to do and I've been using it for the last year with great results means your carb is low, which in turn can lead to an unstable PH value. Using half a dose of Gold Buffer will add the necessary minerals to stabilize your water and keep your PH level constant. If you have a very low PH along with soft water this will bring your PH down to around 7.8-8.2 when using the full dose. You must know the PH, KH, and GH levels for both tap water and tank water before using buffers or attempting to change the PH in any way. Buy a test kit and do your research before testing products. In most cases, a pH below or above the "ideal" range is perfectly acceptable for your fish. It's much safer and easier for your fish to leave things as they are rather than blindly adding a bunch of stuff to the tank. You only need a buffer if your PH is unstable due to low KH or if your water is very acidic (less than 6.8 for goldfish).
