This was the first home renovation project I've done on my own (the old handle on my toilet fell off so I used museum putty as a temporary solution and installed this handle on my toilet today) but the installation was easy Task. I had to use a clamp to secure the chain and a wrench to remove the old hardware and make sure the new handle was secure, but otherwise no additional tools were required and the instructions made the installation work for me despite mine lack of experience incredibly easy with repair. The grip itself is a little thicker than I would like but it still looks good and based on the parts that came with the old grip versus the new grip I think the new grip should last a lot longer.
