Installation I bought a 6 camera unit and installed it in my house to augment existing spotlights with weatherproof housings from my home storage. After applying the power supply, the device is connected to the recorder and is ready for use. The farthest camera is approximately 55 feet from the base unit. Include your Amazon order number so they can find out what hardware you have. 4 - The device came with a 1TB hard drive. You can upgrade but based on 1 week experience I think it's enough for my needs. The trick is to only set the cameras that SHOULD have continuous recording and set the others to motion activation. that comes with the package does not highlight the features of the software very well. The software is very powerful and most of its features are not explained. 2 - The capture mode icon (always, motion, etc.) is displayed in the top right corner of each image. If the camera is set to record when motion is detected, the icon will not always appear. This does not affect the functionality of the camera.3 - Additional cameras cost about $65 + $11 for the power adapter. It's a bit pricey for an extra camera. In retrospect, I should have bought a set of 8 cameras instead of 6.
