I have a closet with an old fashioned ceiling light on a chain that I don't like at all. It would be a lot of work and expense if an electrician hooked it up to a wall switch. I bought not one but two expensive GE brand remote switches. The first failed after about a year, and the second eventually failed as well. (After changing the battery both thought that was the problem) They were junk. I bought this one and it worked beautifully and was a much better design. The screw cartridge is shorter (the GE socket was quite long and after adding a bulb it hung lower in the closet and the bulb could hit). a finger instead of a rocker arm on a GE product. They are more electronic than mechanical and work much more efficiently. This is very helpful as I visit this area and beyond a lot. The round dial on this product is slightly different. So I bought a metal switch plate from Home Depot and the switch sticks to it with magnets on the back. It also comes with some self-adhesive mounting squares that I could just stick to the wall, but I'm not a fan of those. It works great and looks great on the wall as an upmarket designer wall switch. It is also very easy to replace the disk battery when the time comes. The back is simply unscrewed. I've since bought two remote control versions for some other areas in my house where I just needed a handy wall switch to control the lights. I like that everyone has a unique code so they don't bother at all. The remote controls also have a long range. Overall, this is a great product that I highly recommend.
