Review on Spectre Performance 42273 Ford F-Series Chrome Alternator Bracket including Bolts by Brian Samuel
U-bolt sheared off when tightening!
When tightening the bolts included on the alternator bracket (42273) to the cylinder head bracket, one of the bolts sheared. Upon further inspection, these bolts turned out to have a metric property class of 4.8. For a bolt of this size (17mm head heat) I would expect a much stronger bolt (grade 8.8 or 10.8). Note. I broke this with basic hand tools (two wrenches) rather than a percussion gun. If the screws are weak enough to break, I worry about the durability of the rest of the product!
