Review on ๐Ÿ–ค Black 18 Quart Weston Roaster Oven (03-4000-W) by Jarod Lacy

Quick and easy, best for wet birds, keep oven clean

I love this Weston 18Q roaster. I don't usually like to roast poultry in my full size oven and only do it on special occasions because I cook my bird uncovered to get a nice brown and it always causes a lot of splattering on the walls of my oven making it quite hot . Chaos. I even bought a turkey fryer so I don't have to cook the turkey in the oven! I'm really impressed with this handy oven, which gives me results that are a cross between a Dutch and an open oven - I get a bit of browning like I would in a traditional oven (it's a bit lighter, but not bad) and also tender, juicy meat in the closed roaster (very favorable compromise for lighter browning). I just cooked about 13 pounds of chicken (2 birds) on the grill at 375 degrees (see celery and carrots). I didn't reheat, although the instructions say it takes 15 minutes. I just turned it on after putting everything in I kept it closed (you shouldn't be peeking or you'll ruin the temp by releasing all your heat) and cooked for 2 hours and the chicken came out great the meat was surprisingly tender and delicious and the skin decently crispy. The short time after cooking allowed the bird to absorb the juices again and my birds turned out better than my oven.I don't want to touch the lid at all.The handles are great warm but you can hold it.The great thing is that it was in front of my busy counter, almost under my cabinets and the heat didn't even reach the cabinets at all.Extension in the R The back and table top didn't get very hot either, which was surprising given how hot the body was. I will definitely be frying more in the future, which is a pretty healthy way to eat anyway. This broiler is a good size, much larger than my large 7Q Dutch Oven and I will be using it for stews/roasts for family reunions.
