Review on Dvd740I 16X Internal Writer Lightscribe by Alfonso Tipton

Revainrating 1 out of 5

High expectations but very disappointed

Lightscribe isn't the most important thing in a DVD burner, but that's why I chose this particular product over several alternatives. As an aftermarket addition to my Dell 4550 computer, after many hours of frustration, I can tell you that while it burns DVDs perfectly, the light writer does not work. I'm not the only one with this problem, it's quite common as I just found out. It does not recognize Verbatim or Memorex Lightscribe DVDs, including the free Lightscribe DVD that came with the product. I've tried SureThing (included with this product) and Nero with no success. I updated the system software from the Lightscribe website and there are no newer updates for the 740i. I ended up calling HP to try and speak to someone and was told that tech support for this product would cost $30 per call! Goodbye HP.
